My consultancy work focuses on supporting organisations, art agencies and peak bodies to better understand and uphold Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP). Through workshops and discussions, I work with teams to unpack why protecting Aboriginal art is important, including the impacts of cultural appropriation and the misuse of cultural expressions.
These conversations centre on building stronger respect for culture while identifying practical ways organisations can better support Aboriginal artists. This includes fair recognition, proper permissions, ethical collaborations, and ensuring artists maintain authority over their cultural knowledge and creative work.
I also work with organisations to develop strategic documents that guide how they engage with First Nations people. This can include creating a Statement of Commitment or similar frameworks, such as a RAP, that outline clear principles, responsibilities and actions for working respectfully and meaningfully with Aboriginal communities and artists.
